Christmas cake

I made a Christmas cake today and created a poinsettia for the first time! I am really happy with the outcome. The holly are the same that I sell on my Etsy shop. Coconut cake with lemon filling. YUM!

Trouble with new products

I'm having a bit of a block. I am trying to decide what to add to my etsy shop. It is a little harder then just making pretty decorations because they have to be very durable for the shipping process. I just ordered a crown cutter to make little princess cupcake toppers and I plan to make snowflakes as well but I really need to kick it up a notch so that I really have a large selection to choose from. I'm finally getting some of my Christmas items out today! I've made holly cupcake toppers and Christmas wreath cupcake toppers. I think they are adorable. I am planning on making snowflakes and candy canes too. I would also like to make little stockings if I can find a good cutter. If anyone has any ideas that they think would be a good product for me to carry please let me know!

Halloween week treat making

So this week I have been hard at work making all sorts of Halloween goodies. Unfortunately I am a total loser and have forgotten to take pictures of them before the parties :( for the first Halloween party I made Zombie cupcakes. They were chocolate cupcakes with mint frosting covered in "dirt" (cookie crumbles) and I made bones, eyes, feet and hands coming out of them with a couple of grave stones and a sign that read "Beware the Zombies". They won first prize in the creepy desserts contest. :) BTW my son won a costume contest that night to for his rocket ship costume yay!! The second treat I made were candy corn lollipops. They were way more work then they were worth. I am not a tempered chocolate expert but I have done by fair share of pouring molds. The problem was that with the three different colors I was constantly reheating the chocolate and then also the difficulty of keeping the lines strait and not bleeding into each other. The overall effect was adorable though and I topped them off with gift tags that I purchased from etsy. I'm so sad I forgot to get pictures! I will ask around and If anyone happened to take a picture of either treat I will make sure to post it.

Finished spa cake

well I finished the spa cake! I think it turned out really well. The only thing I would change if I could is the #11. I dont like the color but I guess its not too bad.

My treasury made it to the top 10 list today!!!

I'm so excited that I finally made it to the top 10! The funny thing is that I have been nursing this other treasury all day and it had been doing really well but then I made this other treasury and I was on the front page of the hot list within 1.5 hrs. Wow!

Spa cake project

I'm making a spa cake for an 11 yr olds birthday and on the top she wanted a person lounging in a spa chair. I am not much of a scupture but this is what I came up with. I'm pretty happy with it except for the hands. They look like she's swollen :) I had a really good hand on her but when I went to paint her fingernails I slipped and painted her hand :( oh well. I'm baking today and will assemble the cake tomarrow so I will have a picture up of the final product.

I did a cupcake tree for a wedding this past weekend. The bride wanted a doughnut cake for the topper because they got engaged in front of a bakery. I thought it turned out well. I want to tweek the tree so that next time the sides dont show.
